Main Exhibition Space: In his first solo show at RARE, Mississippi-based artist James Davis presents new work derived from profound personal experiences which he has recreated with ordinary, industrial materials. A process of obsessive repetition has transformed these materials into a truly contemporary vision of nature.

RARE PLUS: In "Black and White", Italian-born artist Eugenio Percossi exhibits a furnished room that is focused on a clear, hopeless analysis of human illusions such as life, memory, and religion, which he denounces one by one in images of breathtaking beauty.

Com & Com (Gossolt/Hedinger) / Andrea Loux - Neue Arbeiten

In der aktuellen Ausstellung werden zwei Werkgruppen gegenüber gestellt, die auf den ersten Blick sehr unterschiedlich daherkommen. Einerseits sind da die zum Teil mit grellen Farben gemalten Ayrylbilder von Com & Com (Gossolt/Hedinger), andererseits die in eher verhaltenen Farben gehaltenen Papierarbeiten von Andrea Loux. Bei beiden Werkgruppen handelt es sich jedoch um einen Medientransfer. Spannend wird die Betrachtung der Arbeiten, wenn man die Geschichten Andrea Loux’ und die abstrakten Farbwolken von Com & Com interagieren lässt.

Athanasios Argianas / Pauline Boudry/Renate Lorenz - Normal Work

ARQUEBUSE presents a solo exhibition by Athanasios Argianas following the success of his recent exhibitions at The Breeder in Athens, and Max Wigram Gallery in London. Three new sculptural "machine" artworks will be included, as well as a selection of new marker-pen drawings, all rotating around ideas inherent in the Möbius strip, a surface with only one side and edge, discovered in 1858.

In the basement project space, the installation "Normal Work" by Pauline Boudry in collaboration with Renate Lorenz will be on view.

Die aktuelle Wolfsberg Ausstellung ist einem der bekanntesten zeitgenössischen Bildhauer gewidmet: Stephan Balkenhol.

Stephan Balkenhol, 1957 im hessischen Fritzlar geboren, zählt zu den international renommiertesten Positionen in der zeitgenössischen Bildhauerei. Mit seinen Arbeiten hat er die Formensprache der Skulptur im 20. Jahrhundert erneuert, indem er sie wieder für das Figurative öffnete.

Barbara Petzold - Waldstücke

"Waldstücke" (Forest Pieces or also Pieces of Woodland) is the title of Barbara Petzold's second solo exhibition in our gallery. In her most recent works the Düsseldorf artist is engaged in investigating the pictorial space of nature. Again, the focus is upon ephemeral light reflexes, which, in contrast to previous works, do not appear in hazy settings - rooms, street corners, or bars - but rather in the forest, in a clearing or a chaparral. Here, a mysterious effect is created not so much due to the indefinable quality of the depicted situation, but rather due to the strangeness of the pictorial elements and composition.

Rotwand is very proud to present two young Nordic artists. Via the media of photography and video, the Finn Hannu Karjalainen and the Swede Lovisa Ringborg examine the boundaries between reality and fiction. When and how does illusion become reality and when does the construction of fiction begin? In their work both Karjalainen and Ringborg take up very decidedly the subject of painting and transform it into the medium of video or photography.

Iris Kettner

At first glance, Iris Kettner's life-size figurative sculptures appear to represent familiar-seeming, often humble figures of urban life. Shaped from tattered old clothes wrapped around wooden structures with adhesive tape and dressed in fragments of used clothes, these figures project a sense of inconspicuousness and anonymity, an impression only reinforced by their covered heads and masked faces. On closer inspection, however, the impression of familiarity is replaced by one of confusion: Kettner is not simply interested in staging figurative sculptures as those average types that are mostly overlooked.

f a projects is delighted to present "Portraits of yesterday, today and tomorrow", an exhibition that premieres the work of four young Hungarian born and based painters in London: Zsolt Bodoni, Roland Horváth, Péter Sudar, and Dorottya Szabo.

The artists are part of a unique generation that knew communism in childhood, witnessed its disintegration during adolescence and experienced Hungary's transition into democracy in early adulthood.

Erik den Breejen - Throwaway Lines Often Ring True

In Erik den Breejen's first solo exhibition at Freight + Volume, his love affair with music and lyrics manifests itself by way of brightly colored, abstract, text-based paintings. Using a wide variety of devices, the artist infuses paintings that reference many modes of abstraction with pop culture. By treating the words as shapes, den Breejen generates conceptual narratives and explores a personal take on movements such as minimalism, "action painting," grid and color-field painting, and hard-edged geometry. The exhibition is a myriad of crude, yet sophisticated, pop-art canvases in which den Breejen plays conductor to a visual symphony starring his rock heroes.

Au fil des ans, la Fondation Collection du CentrePasquArt a fait l'acquisition d'un nombre considérable de vidéos, regroupées pour la première fois dans le cadre d'une exposition. S'étendant sur plusieurs décennies et comprenant des artistes suisses et internationaux, cet ensemble hétérogène donne un aperçu de la production artistique à travers un tel média.
