Clifton Benevento is pleased to present "A Place In The Sun", the New York solo-debut of Toronto based artist, Hugh Scott-Douglas.

Drawing its title from the 1951 George Stevens’ film of the same name, A Place In The Sun, presents a new body of cyanotypes on linen.

Within cinematic history, Stevens’ film is regarded as a prime example of analog editing and is particularly well known for its long dissolves between scenes. Read more...

Horton Gallery, Chelsea is pleased to announce White Shadow, the first New York solo exhibition by Berlin based artist Natasza Niedziolka.

Natasza Niedziolka's abstract fabric and thread works intuitively integrate enigmatic shapes and evocative colors. Following in the tradition of Dada artists such as Jean Arp, Niedziolka's fabric panels embrace the irrational. While the artist’s use of quilting and sewing connect her work with historical, democratized expressive acts, Niedziolka decidedly rejects traditional craft-art guidelines such as functionality and pictorial coherence. It was May 11, 1971 when the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris opened the influential exhibition “Computer Graphics - Une Esthétique Programmée”. A solo exhibition by Manfred Mohr, it featured the first display in a museum of works entirely calculated and drawn by a digital (rather than analog) computer. Revolutionary for its time, these drawings were more than mere curiosities – they signaled a new era of image creation, setting in motion a trajectory of modernism and information aesthetics.
