"Waldstücke" (Forest Pieces or also Pieces of Woodland) is the title of Barbara Petzold's second solo exhibition in our gallery. In her most recent works the Düsseldorf artist is engaged in investigating the pictorial space of nature. Again, the focus is upon ephemeral light reflexes, which, in contrast to previous works, do not appear in hazy settings - rooms, street corners, or bars - but rather in the forest, in a clearing or a chaparral. Here, a mysterious effect is created not so much due to the indefinable quality of the depicted situation, but rather due to the strangeness of the pictorial elements and composition. Read more...

Die Galerie Löhrl zeigt in einer Einzelausstellung neue Arbeiten des 1965 in Tel Aviv geborenen Künstlers Gil Shachar.

Shachars Skulpturen aus Kunstharz und Wachs stellen menschliche Figuren oder schlichte Alltagsgegenstände dar. Die menschlichen Abbilder sind stets Fragmente des Körpers, Portraitbüsten, eine Rückenpartie oder einzelne Hände. Durch eine aufwändige Abgusstechnik und sorgfältige Bemalung der Oberfläche schafft Shachar ein mimetisches Abbild der Wirklichkeit. Galerie Wilma Tolksdorf presents Axel Hütte for the first time in its Berlin space.

In search of his motifs, Axel Hütte travels the world. Under the title "Fog & Fire", the renowned photo artist continues his cycle of landscapes, once again taking up the theme of fog and smoke. These most recent works were photographed mainly in New Mexico and Central and South America.

Axel Hütte approaches his carefully composed works with very clear visual ideas. Sometimes he waits for days for the right light. As he explained in an interview, the goal for him "is not to reproduce small structures one-on-one", but rather "the greatest possible atmospheric condensation". Arndt & Partner Berlin is delighted to present the third solo show with works by Muntean/Rosenblum. On occasion of the Berlin Gallery Weekend the exhibition will be taking place over both floors.

Muntean/Rosenblum's compositional approach to painting is traditional, though as much derived from the collective memory of figuration in popular media (fashion magazines) as it is from the direct appropriations from Renaissance, Baroque, and Neo-Classical motifs. Read more...

Die Arbeiten auf Papier verbindet ein besonderer, sehr emotionaler Blick der Künstler auf ihr Thema. Die formal strengen, fast monochromen Zeichnungen Craig Yu's geben ihre Aussage erst bei genauer Betrachtung preis. Piotr Dlusniewskis intime Aquarelle überhöhen Sexualität und Hedonismus unserer Gesellschaft ins Surreale. Bewegung steht auch im Zentrum der neuen Bespielung der Seven Screens. Die belgische Künstlerin Anouk De Clercq konzipierte mit der Videoinstallation "Motion for Newton" allerdings einen grafisch reduzierten, auf geometrische Formen konzentrierten Videoloop, der sich stark von den bisherigen Bespielungen der Seven Screens absetzt. In Motion for Newton, einer Hommage an den berühmten Physiker, lässt Anouk De Clercq Linien und Formen im Wechselspiel mit ihrer direkten Umgebung aufeinander wirken. Read more...

Goff + Rosenthal is pleased to present a series of five new paintings and several colored drawings by Susanne Kühn.

Over the past nine years, Susanne Kühn's work has evolved from predominantly otherworldly landscapes gradually infiltrated by women traversing the terrain to interior settings which continue to feature external views and individual portraits. Her complex paintings examine the interaction of various artistic languages that become resolved within the painting. They experiment with the historic and the contemporary; the familiar and the foreign, and play with the equilibrium of the painterly elements to form a unique three-dimensional space that is completely her own. Intensely private interiors with Renaissance proportions are juxtaposed with romanticizing yet grotesque exteriors that draw on multiple traditions (such as Japanese, German, and comic-book artificiality). "Go" is Pia Maria Martin's (*1974) third solo show at the Galerie Reinhard Hauff. The Stuttgart artist - well known for her elaborate stop motion films - revisits in this new creation themes and techniques from her early works. The title "Go" is taken from a Chinese board game in which the players - just like the animated objects in Pia Martin's previous films - are bound by the abstract rules of an invisible choreography to produce a bizarre panoptical of fantastic stories and projects.
