Ute Barth opens the new season with a solo exhibition of the young artist Meike Entenmann from Cologne. Meike Entenmann manages to draw in one's attention through her unique and fascinatingly unusual perspective on our daily life, as well on our own personal story. Instead of using pen or pencil Meike Entenmann impresses us with works using needle thread work, conveying us her own beguiling style.

The exhibition is based on her latest installation "Frayed Memories" - a room of memories.

In the "Frayed Memories" installation, Meike Entenmann enables one to plunge into this story with her works of art - the table, at which was previously eaten, the half open door, the chair which is positioned at a slanted angle, as if someone had forgotten to place it back under the table. These memories manage to manifest themselves in a shadow along the walls, leaving one with a ghost image. This afterimage is seen on a white wallpaper, onto which the image has been stitched. The stitchings themselves are made up of closely positioned red dots. This cleverly utilized technique enables the viewer to perceive these works as shimmering, almost vibrating creations. These enticing pieces of calm, memorable experiences encourage one to be inspired and drift into one's own memories or remembrances.

Next to the room installation one finds other works like so-called "Care Cakes".

It is important to understand that Meike Entenmanns works do not act purely to be admired, but more importantly to serve as a way to allow oneself to take the time to reflect upon personal experiences or memorable moments.

The objects themselves are made out of transparent Acrylic resin, the core containing a red cross or a red crescent, wrapped in an airtight transparent foil, preserved for eternity. This delicate objects seem to act as a symbol for frail or sensitive experiences.
