artschool uk is a new project created by John Reardon. For its launch year 2010, artschool uk is working in collaboration with Cell Project Space, London. Applications are invited for this unique project, which will explore the work of 21 individuals who will be selected to participate in the project which include daily seminars, workshops, tutorials, visiting presentations, and reading groups delivered by an exciting and diverse group of artists, curators, critics and galleries.

artschool uk is divided into two distinct Phases. Phase I The Art School Phase and Phase II The Reflection and Publication Phase.

Phase I (April 6th - 25th 2010) takes place in Cell Project Space, London. This is a three-week long event-based project, which offers participants the opportunity to explore their ideas and work through three-weeks of critically engaged group and individual teaching, workshops, presentations and reading groups. A team of dedicated teachers will work with participants each week of the three weeks and while some parts of the project will include an invited public, the main focus of Phase I is on participants, their individual work and development.

Phase II begins six months after Phase I and focuses on the publication and dissemination of the project with particular emphasis on work produced by participants during the intervening period or period of reflection between Phase I and II. Phase II will include, amongst other things, a publication containing participants work, essays and images critically exploring the first year of artschool uk, 2010.

Contributors to artschool uk, 2010, are drawn from an extensive network of artists, curators, critics, and galleries who support or have agreed to participate directly in the project. This group includes:

The confirmed list of contributors to Phase I of artschool uk, 2010, will be posted on www.artschooluk.org on Monday January 18th, 2010.

Deadline
Applications (including documentation of work) should be postmarked on or before Monday February 1st, 2010 and sent to artschool uk, Po. Box 60487, London, E9 9AP UK.

Cost
A fee of £300 per participant is payable in advance. Accommodation is not provided, however artschool uk will help participants find accommodation should this be required.

Selection process
An invited panel will select participants on the basis of work submitted on application.

Successful candidates will be notified by Monday February 15th, 2010.
