photo MIAMI, the international fair consisting of high-end contemporary photo-based art, video, and new media, now under the watchful eye of FOTOmarkt; a group of art enthusiasts and investors, is pleased to share its unabashed commitment of global diversity in its exhibitor pool as well as the strong focus on featuring up-and-coming talent from countries such as China, Spain, Germany, Italy, Puerto Rico, the UK and the U.S. to name a few.
Stephen Cohen, who established the fair in 2006 and currently acts as managing director noted, "This year’s fair will offer collectors, curators, and patrons alike an immediate and comprehensive overview of what a truly international contemporary art fair can be. With a curatorial team in place that crosses race and gender lines, this year’s fair is looking to be one of the best yet.”
FOTOmarkt Owners Steve Eshelman and Marisa Arango collectively weighed in, "To have curatorial talent such as Charles Guice, director of Charles Guice Contemporary, Brookie Maxwell, artist and founding director of Gallery 138 in New York and Isolde Brielmaier all working in collaboration will only result in a high-profile, globally relevant selection of premiere galleries."
“Since its inaugural run in 2006, Photo Miami has always been successful,” commented Guice. “Last year the fair hosted exhibitors from more than 14 countries and is the only major, global photo-based art fair during Art Basel Miami Beach. We had record attendance in 2008-more than double that from the first year and our pre-sales numbers are looking stronger than ever.”
pM09 has also secured a new 30,000 square foot venue at N. Miami Avenue and NW 34th Street in Miami's Wynwood Arts District.
