In their series "Without You Baby, There Ain't No Us" the Swiss artists Comenius Roethlisberger and Admir Jahic - better known as "Invisible Heroes" - investigate the still very young, but global social phenomenons of the web 2.0. For their work, pieces of the infinite world of images uploaded to YouTube are copied as drawings on to handmade paper. For some of their works - like in the case of the Star-Wars-Kid - enough single frames are drawn to animate the original video. Other times, only a single rendered image is recreated. At Scope Basel last June, the pair presented the "Star Wars Kid revisited", a series of 604 original drawings in 604 handmade frames resulting in a strong comment on commitment during crisis.

Their subjective selection of the originals seems to follow the same principles of fascination as the majority of the YouTube-users. One could even call it a documentary work, which reveals a both funny and embarrassing image of our own likings. So it should be easy for the viewer to find something he knows or likes.

Likewise pleasing is, that despite of their success (amongst others the Al Sabah Art Collection commissioned a own series of arabic film icons) they are also still true to the democratic roots of the internet and sell their works for prices, affordable to everyone.
